Love is Everywhere | Ballantyne Children’s Photographer

It’s that time of year again.  Candy, chocolate, singing bears and heart-shaped balloons are everywhere.  As a matter of fact, I am sitting here looking at a beautiful balloon bouquet my husband brought home last night (the anniversary of when he proposed to me – SUCH a romantic!).  Some people are vehemently anti-Valentine’s Day, but I am of the opinion that celebrating LOVE is a great thing.  Love is such a beautiful thing and can be found just about everywhere you look, every day of the year.  In your home, in nature, in your children’s eyes.

As a photographer, one of my favorite things is seeing the beauty of love in everyday occurrences.  Here are some portraits I have taken this month.  Sometimes we can learn so much from little ones – they do everything with such LOVE & enthusiasm.  Whether it is learning to crawl or painting a picture.  Enjoy and may your Valentine’s Day and every day be filled with love and happiness!

This may or may not ever happen this quickly again – but I had the most wonderful session this morning and felt the need to post ASAP. :)  Also, I wanted them to get a small sneak peak before they got busy with all of the holiday festivities (turkey cookies, anyone?).

Let me just say that it was such a privilege to meet up with these two moms.  I love the fact that they are such great friends even though they are seperated by about 787 miles (yes, I looked that up!) and so are the kids!  And I love even more that they are planning to surprise their husbands with some of the pictures from today’s shoot.

With 6 children (5 of them boys) I did have to resort to a little “potty humor” to crack some smiles, but it was well worth it.

The kids also taught me the Who Dat chant. :)  Hope your Saints win tomorrow!

Enjoy the sneak peak and have a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Crying Reindeer | Charlotte, NC Baby Photographer

It’s that time of year again!  I love absolutely everything (ok, not the mall crowds!) about the holidays.  Baking, baking and more baking.  Peppermint bark.  Sparkling lights.  Christmas Carols.  Getting cozy by the fireplace.  Wrapping presents.  Sharing joy.  Crying reindeer…

Oops.  Did I say crying reindeer?  I didn’t know that was one of my favorite things until my recent holiday portrait shoot with my good friend Tara’s little guy Jackson.  He was none too happy when mom decided to put reindeer antlers on his head.  I had to keep shooting, it was just too darn cute!

Luckily, when we removed the antlers he cheered up considerably and I was able to get some smiling shots, too.  And after we buttered him up with a lollipop, we were able to sneak the antlers back on for a couple of more.  ;)  Shhhh.  Don’t tell Jackson - although I have a feeling these photos are going to reappear somewhere around the time his date comes over before prom.

Enjoy the sneak peak Tara & Lee.

Playgroup & Portraits | Freedom Park Children’s Photographer

Here is a sneak peak from my first Playgroup & Portraits session.  It was originally scheduled for last Wednesday, but due to some terrible weather we rescheduled it for Halloween morning!  We all met up at Freedom Park in Charlotte, which is always fun.  It was such a beautiful Fall morning – the weather couldn’t have been better!

When I found out the name of the playgroup is “Playground Divas,” I knew I would be in for a good time!  One of my favorite moments was when Mr. B busted out with “Soul Train!”  Much thanks to Sarah, who was awesome enough to bring lollipops and balloons for everyone in the group, which led to some fantastic shots.  And since it was rescheduled for a Sunday a lot of the dads were able to get in some of the portraits, too!  The kids all had a great time enjoying the park and I got a nice workout chasing after them!  Enjoy the sneak peak – it was great meeting you all!
